Escorted by his top advisors, the Minister visited each of the classes and spoke with the children and teachers about their goals and hopes for the future. The minister also met with a representative of the parents who is a regular participant in the Parental Empowerment Center and listened as she told him how the program has enriched her personally and the lives of her family. The children presented the Minister with hand-drawn pictures and cards wishing him the best of luck as a Minister of the State of Israel. Needless to say, the children were both excited and moved by their illustrious visitor. Prof. Hershkovitz and his advisors were no less touched by the meeting and impressed by the teachers' motivation and dedication. Following the visit, the minister met with Afikim Director, Moshe Lefkowitz, and the pedagogical staff. He listened attentively as the staff explained the Afikim program in detail. Following his visit, the Minister wrote the following words of appreciation: To the dear Afikim staff, Ayala, Mr. Lefkowitz, and all involved with this important program: My heart is astounded upon seeing the holy work which is being accomplished by you; it is the true saving of souls, enabling Jewish children to have a future as partners in making Eretz Yisrael a better place. May you be blessed with success in all that you do and may you see much nachat from the children and their families, in health and with Divine Guidance.
