In honor of his visit the Afikim children performed some of their best moves in a girls' dance and boys' capoera program. This year Afikim offered, for the first time, a course in capoera and it has proven to be a tremendous success. The boys are mastering the Brazilian dance and martial art movements and gaining self confidence as well.

The girls have become master performers of their dance set and Rabbi Eckstein was moved by both performances. The children were also proud to show off their Afikim classrooms and Rabbi Eckstein amazed them with his ability to speak Amharic. Rabbi Eckstein ended the visit by speaking in Amharic and Hebrew and taught the children a valuable lesson – be proud of your heritage, be proud of who you are and continue to succeed.
